Grand Prismatic Spring
The largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world was first recorded by European settlers and fur trappers in the 1830s. The vivid colours are the result of microbial mats that grow around the edges of the mineral rich water. The 50m deep spring produces around 200 litres of 70˚C water every minute.
